On behalf of the United States Department of State’s Biosecurity Program (BEP), Sandia National Laboratories (SNL)/Global Chemical and Biological Security (SNL/GCBS) and Panjab University are organizing a 2-day hybrid workshop (in-person plus live webinar) on Building Information Security to Prevent Theft of Biotechnology Expertise and Assets from the vaccine sector and academic and government laboratories.  The engagement is for Indian microbiologists and bioscientists from public and animal health laboratories, universities, academic institutions, industry, and government laboratories.  The hybrid workshop will be conducted 3-4 November 2023 in Chandigarh, India for up to 20 in-person participants and up to 250 remote participants.  In-person participants must be local to Chandigarh.  Six two-hour sessions will be delivered over a two-day period and broadcast to industry, universities, and institutions throughout the country.


The workshop topics include information security and its role in securing weaponizable agents and protecting researchers, information security specific to academia, security implications of bioautomation, personal security, social media, and social engineering, including how these can be used as a means of gaining intelligence on scientists by proliferator states.
