Know-Your-Customer (KYC) Training for Chemical Suppliers and Distributors
Tentative dates: 15-17 May 2023
Description: Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), on behalf of the United States Department of State’s Chemical Security Program (CSP), is organizing a 3-day Know-Your-Customer (KYC) best practices for chemical distributors and suppliers. Through interactive presentations, participants will learn how to recognize suspicious purchase requests, develop customer vetting strategies, and understand regulations regarding the sale of dual-use chemicals. Topics covered during the workshop will include chemical security threats and chemicals of concern, KYC principles and best practices, suspicious indicators, and strategies to implement KYC. The workshop will also include demonstration and activities using the SNL-developed KYC Suspicious Indicators Evaluation tool designed specifically to identify suspicious customer sales requests.
Audience:
- This workshop is designed for customer service/sales department managers and supervisors from chemical manufacturing, suppliers, and distributors. Facilities in attendance should have been previously engaged in CSP effort on KYC and have facility approval to implement KYC policy and practices in their department.
Objective:
- Provide participants with the knowledge, tool, and resources to implement KYC best practices and policies at their institutions to ensure their products are not acquired by illicit entities.
