Chemical Security Program

Mission:

The Global Chemical and Biological Security Group (GCBS) program enhances United States and international security by reducing chemical threats worldwide. It protects against the accidental or intentional misuse of chemicals to harm people, agriculture, or other critical resources.

Goals:

  • Promote the responsible use of chemicals, equipment, and expertise at chemical facilities
  • Strengthen capacities to secure dangerous chemicals
  • Improve understanding and mitigation of accidental and deliberate chemical risks

  • Laboratory chemical risk assessments for security
  • Implementation of laboratory chemical risk systems
  • Implementation of laboratory chemical security systems
  • Integrated systems approach to chemical threat identification, prevention, and response
