Workshop Objective:
The Lebanon National CBRN Commission and Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), Global Chemical and Biological Security group will host and co-facilitate the event in Athens, Greece on 29 November – 1 December 2022. The U.S. Department of State’s Chemical Security Program is funding this dialogue to bring together a variety of stakeholders from Industry, Academia, and Government to share perspectives related to chemical inventory and reporting of dual-use chemicals.
This event will explore emerging priorities for managing dual-use chemicals in Lebanon. The three (3)-day dialogue will center on technical exchanges between representatives from Lebanon and other international peers. Participants are encouraged to come ready to contribute their own knowledge and experience in topics such as chemical inventory management, accountability, access control, and reporting. Rather than be a spectator, this dialogue is an opportunity for you discuss and define regional perspectives on dual-use chemical needs and sustainable operations. Ultimately, the goal is a stimulate ideas and innovations to address challenges, constraints, and security concerns related managing dual-use chemicals.
The dialogue is an unofficial, non-structured technical scientific exchange of ideas through a facilitated workshop. The objective of this facilitated workshop is to bring together peer experts to understand the challenges of managing dual-use chemicals and identify strategies to overcome those challenges based on the groups’ experiences. It is considered an unofficial engagement or conversation between peers and influential experts who could potentially return home and provide advice to policy makers or other decision makers.
